Conservative Councillors have raised the alarm over Hounslow Council’s handling of the Lampton Group.
The business is wholly owned by the council that has to date made a cumulative loss of over £13 million. Hounslow Labour’s decision to hike council tax by 4.99% and slash funding for streetlighting and road maintenance was driven by the need to continue ploughing money into the group. Despite pledging to provide greater oversight of the group, Hounslow’s Labour leader cancelled all but two meetings of the group’s Shareholder Committee in the last financial year, leaving the business without much needed democratic scrutiny.
John Todd, Conservative Councillor for Chiswick Homefields, said: “The Lampton Group is a failed experiment that is costing local taxpayers millions of pounds. Conservative Councillors will continue to fight to axe the council’s waste and get a better deal for our Borough."
