Chiswick’s Conservative councillors have expressed concern over Hounslow Council’s proposal to further dim streetlights in the borough.
Hounslow Council’s first budget since the General Election saw a range of cuts to services, including further dimming of streetlights and the possible switching off of lights “between midnight and dawn”.
Jack Emsley, Conservative Councillor for Chiswick Homefields, said: "Labour’s decision to dim our streetlights despite hiking up council tax is another example of the poor value we’re getting from this council. Our streetlight levels have already been dimmed by 45% by this council over the past few years. Combined with the terrible state they have left our pavements in, darker roads will make us all more vulnerable to both crime as well as trips and falls.”
Following a Conservative petition signed by over 1,000 local residents, Chiswick’s local councillors continue to push for the council to drop its dangerous plans to make our roads less safe.
