Councillor for Chiswick Homefields
  • Borough Councillors

I grew up in Paddington, escaping from a bleak inner-city upbringing by passing the 11`+ and attending St Marylebone Grammar School (a school since destroyed by Shirley Williams). The teaching was so good that I got a place at Exeter University and studied Politics, Government and Geography.

Upon moving to Chiswick, I fell in love with the community - there is a real sense of living in a village yet also being part of the greatest city in the world. Since being elected to represent you in 2004, it has been a real privilege to serve as one of your three ward Councillors for Homefields on Hounslow Council.

My career as a chartered accountant really helps me in my role on the Council. I am able to navigate my way through highly complex Council Budget papers and the constant demands of being a Director of Hounslow Homes. The key is to maintain a follow up – whether you are preparing case work responses or scrutinising the decisions of the administration. This sort of background experience helps deliver successful outcomes and support for Council Tenants, Taxpayers, Tradesmen  and those who bring their concerns to the local surgery.

As a Councillor I’ve specialised in Budget and Finance – delivering  four years of cost effective financial management between 2006 and 2010 with a standstill in council tax for that period and the maintenance of services and personnel This record stands in sharp contrast to the current socialist administration who have failed to keep services (Chiswick Day Centre for example) and who have added insult to injury by suggesting a cut in Council Tax whilst shedding crocodile tears over the reduction of local authority staff at all levels losing experienced professional officers in the process.

But I am particularly committed to Chiswick, by maintaining the character of this very special area that we live in and by continuing to provide assistance to residents with  the very many issues that affect their daily lives.
